Kalamazoo Climate Crisis Coalition
Environment Kalamazoo
Our mission:
Environment Kalamazoo connects and empowers our community of stewards in securing a more just and sustainable future.
Who we are:
Environment Kalamazoo (EK) is an informal group of local environmental activists, most affiliated with local or national organizations. We are a successor to the Kalamazoo Environmental Council, a local environmental coalition established in 1990.
Our purpose:
We facilitate the joining of forces to inform and take actions to repair, protect and sustain natural resources in the public interest, recognizing the interrelationships of air quality, energy , land use, waste management, water resources, biodiversity, social equity and climate.
What we do:
The Kalamazoo area has a vibrant environmental community including organizations dedicated to a single land area, those dedicated to aspects of nature study, and newer organizations focused on climate change. With this wide range of often overlapping concerns, EK provides a forum to share information on meetings, issues and action being taken by organizations in the Kalamazoo area. As resources allow, we also may sponsor events and projects.
Our meetings:
At present we meet virtually at 5:30 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month. To join a meeting, email your contact information to kzooenvironmentalcouncil@gmail.com. We will send you a link. If you have a particular topic you’d like to discuss, please let us know.
