What we face:
-
Climate change is here — more poor air quality days, floods, storms, and power outages.
-
Rising utility rates make it harder for families to stay safe and healthy.
-
Not all communities are equally equipped to adapt — historic injustice means some are hit harder with fewer resources to respond
The Solution: Climate Ready Communities.
-
Our goal is to provide energy efficiency upgrades and critical repairs to Kalamazoo homes.
-
We are focused on vulnerable neighborhoods across Kalamazoo County scoring high on the Mi Environmental Justice Screening tool which measures economic, environmental, and social disparities.
-
Our work is community-led, guided by a representative advisory board
Why It Matters:
-
Better air quality = fewer asthma attacks.
-
Energy upgrades = lower bills & higher quality of life.
-
Healthier homes = stability for kids, elders, and people with disabilities.
-
Every home upgrade reduces emissions and builds resilience.
The Challenge:
-
In May 2025, our funding was unexpectedly revoked — jeopardizing this critical work.
-
Without support, historically underserved neighborhoods lose access to safe, sustainable housing.
We Need Your Help:
-
Our goal: Raise $200,000 in community donations to keep this work going.
-
Your gift — big or small — supports real people, real homes, and a resilient future.
Let’s build a Kalamazoo where everyone thrives. A community prepared for the future we are living into.
