Boratha Tan, Senior Regulatory Manager for the Midwest at Vote Solar, will lead an accessible and timely discussion on the rapid expansion of data centers and what it means for local communities. The presentation will include a brief overview of how data centers function, including their land, water, and energy demands, before examining a proposed large-scale data center in Michigan as a real-world case study. Boratha will then explore how other states and regions are responding through policy, utility regulation, and community benefit strategies. There will be ample time for Q&A focused on how local advocates can organize, prepare, and push for equitable, forward-looking solutions as data centers arrive in their communities.
